Chief's Message
Fire season is upon us, and it's been a season so far! We have been providing valuable assistance to other communities as fires have been plaguing our area, as well as other areas across the nation. In July we sent a deployment team to help out with fires in California. Right after we deployed that team, the Spring Creek Fire near Parachute hit our specific area, and we were able to send a team there to assist. In August we deployed a fire team to the Delta/Montrose area to help out with the Little Mesa Fire. We anticipate we will deploy a few more times before fire season winds down.
While we do send fire teams to assist other areas, we want to assure you that our community comes first and we continue to staff our fire station at all times. Fire and ambulance services for our district are always available as needed.
With the dry, hot days that we are experiencing, we appreciate our community being mindful that a fire can get out of control very quickly.
We are working on a rotating schedule to begin replacing fire apparatus and equipment that are nearing the end of their serviceablility. Our first replacement project is an ambulance that we anticipate will be delivered in the spring of 2024.
We are completing our new kitchenette upgrade, thanks to a very generous donation from Chevron in 2020. We are excited to get this project completed so that our meeting room will have the added perk of a fully functioning kitchen availability.
We look forward to continuing our service to the De Beque community, the surrounding district area, and the other nearby communities that we may be called to assist. Please contact us if you have any concerns, comments, or questions. We are here to serve you! Thank you for your support!
